Trailhead ("the app") is built by Clickwebstudio. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to make the app work, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
- Location — used on your device to show trails near you, center the map, fetch weather, and record a hike. Location is sent to trail/weather providers only as coordinates to return results; it is not stored with your identity.
- Health data (optional) — if you allow it, we read your step count from Apple Health and can save completed hikes as workouts. This stays on your device / in Apple Health; we do not receive or store it.
- Photos you post — when you share a photo to the Community, the image and its caption are uploaded to our server so others can see it.
- Account — if you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier (and name/email if you share them) to identify your account.
- Basic usage analytics — anonymous, aggregate events (e.g. "app opened") to understand usage. No advertising trackers.
Third-party services
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim / Overpass) — trail and place data.
- Open-Meteo — weather, forecast, and elevation.
- NIFC / Esri — live wildfire activity.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, HealthKit.
Data storage
Your hikes, saved trails, packing lists, and settings are stored locally on your device. Community photos you post are stored on our server (hike.kovk.com). You can request deletion of anything you've posted by emailing us.
Your choices
You can revoke Location, Health, Camera, and Photo permissions any time in iOS Settings. You can delete the app to remove all local data.
